Brahmotsavam - Friday, June 14th to Sunday June 16th

Dear Devotees,

The Hindu Temple of Northeast Wisconsin would like to thank you for your support, enthusiasm and generosity shown during Murthi Sthapana in 2017 and last year’s 1st Brahmotsavam festival. We hope to continue building upon this success and invite you and your family to join us for the 11th anniversary of temple and 2nd Annual Brahmotsavam festival. This three day festival will take place from June 14-16, 2019 at The Hindu Temple.

Lord Brahma, the creator God, first conducted this most important and auspicious festival to Lord Vishnu or Balaji or Venkateswara Swami as a way to give thanks for the Lord’s protection of mankind. Hence, this Utsavam or celebration bears his name as Brahmotsavam. Brahmotsavam also signifies Lord’s annual ceremonial outing from the confines of the temple to the streets encircling the temple in a grand procession mounted on Vahanas or Vehicles. It is not only the devotees who are delighted at the event but also who don't go to the temple frequently are won over by the Lord’s overwhelming splendor and brought to the path of devotion.

The hoisting of the Garuda Dwaja - a flag bearing the emblem of Garuda (The Eagle –Vehicle of Vishnu), signifies the commencement of the festival. It is believed that Garuda goes to heaven and invites the Devas or Gods to attend the function. The three-day festival or Utsava includes religious  activities such as daily Homas and processions for the Utsava Murthis on different Vahanas. Every evening, the Utsava Murthis are decorated with different “Alankarams”. The concluding day is celebrated in a grand way with holy bath to Deities and Kalyanotsavam.

The celebration officially concludes with the lowering of the Garuda flag. The priests pay respects to Gods with the chanting of Vedic mantras and see them off on their return to the heaven. The Brahmotsavam celebration provides a unique opportunity for all devotees in the Northeast Wisconsin Community to participate in the festivities and experience the Vaikuntha Anubhava (heavenly enjoyment and feeling) and receive the blessings of Lord Sri Venkateswara Swami or Balaji, who bestows his devotees with happiness, health & wealth.

We look forward to having you join us and together, as a community, we will commemorate the 11th Anniversary of Temple and 2nd Annual Brahmotsavam and make this a “Memorable” event once again!

Warm regards,

Board of Directors & Honorary Advisors
