Makar Sankranti is the day when sun enters into the ‘Makara rashi’ or zodiac Capricorn and is an auspicious day for Hindu devotees. From this day, the sun starts northward journey (Uttarayana) from Tropic of Capricorn reducing harshness of winter. Lord Suryanarayana (Sun God) is worshiped on this day. Let us all come together on this auspicious day and worship Lord Suryanarayana to remove darkness or ignorance from our lives and ushers in the light of knowledge.

We will also perform the Bhogi Pandlu shower on Kids. This ritual is to  bless the kids with happiness, prosperity, and to protect them from evil forces. Bhogi Pandlu typically consists of berries, rice, and other dry items.

Lohri is a Punjabi folk festival mostly celebrated in northern India welcoming the Sun in northern hemisphere. People sing Punjabi folk songs and dance around fire (representing sun). This day celebrates the beginning of harvest season for winter crops like nuts, sugarcane and mustard.
